Field Day - B2 - AVID 9 ... Elizabeth can dribble! Moshood is super fast! Charles is a tug-a-war monsta'! Kirsten was the first AVID scholar to tell me she had fun! :) Reggie has some guns and proved he is a track star. Kennard was an awesome referee. Mr. Anthony was lethal with my super soaker. The champions were Tiffany, Moshood, Jordan and Angela. But actually the entire class was champions - even though Kirsten is the only one who actually ovalized it, I believe they all enjoyed their first AVID Field Day and I think will look forward to next year's events! Note to self: Have Field Day events for every class earlier than finals and then have a special event for all the AVID scholars where the champions of each AVID grade/section can compete against each other for bragging rights. I'm also thinking we need a gold, silver, bronze medal for each event - teams will be made by house - each medal won earns the house points. The winning house will be announced at the Final AVID Field Day Celebration with certificates for each member. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks to the Maryland Writing Project, this meaningful year long activity is going to help my AVID seniors remember not just bits and pieces of their senior year, but bits and pieces of each DAY of their senior year. Here you will find my photos and thoughts for the next 365 days. I am certain this will be one of the most rewarding projects my students and I do. First a click of the camera, then the happy clicking of my keyboard. Let the journey begin...
