Hampstead Day! My friend Lisa and her two kids, Brady and Hannah came with a car full of old clothes and toys ready to make some money. Brady did the best out of all three of them. I, however, cleaned house - literally and figuratively. Gone is my left over fencing, two pieces of furniture, a CD player, boxes of baby clothes, blankets, suitcases, purses, 2 window airconditioners and a few stuffed animals. Left is a blanket of odds and ends (see photo) an attic I can actually enter, a few bruises on my thighs, a nice stack of bills, and the feeling of accomplishment. Purging my life of emotional and tangible baggage is something I should commit to every 6 months. My body is tired but my soul feels rejuvenated.
Thanks to the Maryland Writing Project, this meaningful year long activity is going to help my AVID seniors remember not just bits and pieces of their senior year, but bits and pieces of each DAY of their senior year. Here you will find my photos and thoughts for the next 365 days. I am certain this will be one of the most rewarding projects my students and I do. First a click of the camera, then the happy clicking of my keyboard. Let the journey begin...
