So today I received many gifts - visits, special emails, and assistance. I was SO touched when my AVID graduates popped in to see me and when my current AVID scholars all pitched in to help. A special shout-out goes to Alexis Dillard who gave my closet a much deserved "spring cleaning". She took every item out of the closet and I filled the rolling cafeteria dumpster twice with crap that I've been hoarding since 2006. My closet is officially ready for the new year. It was such a morale booster to have Nicholas Taylor and Ericka Thompson pop in and say good-bye before their 1st year of college officially started. Elizabeth Krupa came back for Orientation to lend a hand and she brought Mr. Carney a present for baby Gillean. She wants to be sure to start that baby off on a college path early! LOVE IT! And then of course there is the email I got today from Jason Gibert. He sent me and Carney his first college essay asking for feedback. And to think I cried back in May because I thought our time together was coming to a close. These kids may not be in my AVID class anymore but we truly are AVID family which means our love and our lives transcend classroom walls.
