Project 365: Day #2.10 - Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

A Teacher's Plea for Patience ...

Ever wonder what teachers do after the kids leave?  They vent.  And this is what a teacher on the edge looks like.  Thankfully I was there to talk Mr. Carney down before he hurt himself!

What was the theme of his venting session today?  Adults and students who can't follow directions.  AMEN my brotha!  We came to the conclusion that we have to start doing follow direction type activities with the AVID 12 scholars.  They cause themselves and us so much grief because they don't do what they are told or what is in black and white in front of them.  Direction following is a life-long skill.  Failure to follow directions on an application could keep our students from getting into a college of their choice or from receiving a scholarship.  It's time to give our students more opportunity to practice the skill of listening and following directions.  Wait till you see what we have planned for you!!! .............

Oh - and hang in there Mr. Carney ... Friday's coming!

Oh - and say hello to Charlotte.  Every fall she comes out of her hiding place in my shed to weave an intricate web.  Looks like this year she is going to use the nail as her anchor.  I wonder what power word she will use this time ... perhaps inundate ... or maybe deluge?
