Happy Happy Birthday Cody Lee!
Right now my little man is sleeping. I'm watching him. What a miracle he is. Tears fill my eyes as emotions of pride, joy and gratitude overwhelm me. I give God glory and thanks today, especially today, for charging me with the honor of raising this precious gift.
Instead of reading Cody a bedtime story last night I told him one. I told him the story of his birth. Nine years ago last night I woke up with the kind of pain that can only be from a kidney stone ... or from contractions. He was hysterical when I told him about my water breaking in the car --he is after all still 8 :) -- he winced when I told him about the needle for the epidural (sp?), he cheered like Aunt Nesie when I told him she was in the delivery room screaming at me to push. I told him how we all cried when we saw him for the first time - the little yellowish brown, dark-haired wonder. At the end he hugged me tight and said "I love you Mama". I melted just like I did 9 years ago today when his perfect little hand curled around my finger for the very first time.
