Project 365: Day 32 - Sun, June 6th, 2010

Alex came over for a playdate and I spent the afternoon recovering from a lack of sleep. Then after a date with Sugar Free Rockstar I got to work on:

Here are my thoughts as I read:

I'm realizing that this guy Cuban is a major player in educational research. His name is coming up in all 3 of the courses I'm currently taking. His research confirms what we know - education hates change. We have kept the same framework even though the demands, settings, and the stakeholders in today's educational forum are drastically different.

"to teach students instead of material..."

"To accomplish standards-driven goals, teachers must work together in new ways. When the only concern was covering curriculum, teachers could work independently because they didn't need to know or build on what students actually learned." There was no need for KM.

"the practice of providing isolated, specialized services drains dollars from other students and teachers and creates incentives to categorize or overdiagnose students as having special needs." is this why every Tom Dick and Harry has been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD?
