Our professional development may look like it is following the model of strategic schools but it is not happening in the context of of the specific curriculum and instructional materials the teachers are using. Instead we have instructional methods being taught separately from content or specific curriculum materials. By teaching it with the specific curriculum, you are saving teachers the time of applying what they have learned. Instead they are immediately applying and can then spend time reflecting on and revising for increased effectiveness.
Thanks to the Maryland Writing Project, this meaningful year long activity is going to help my AVID seniors remember not just bits and pieces of their senior year, but bits and pieces of each DAY of their senior year.
