Project 365: Day 28 - Wed, June 2nd, 2010

Our school is not using technology as an effective tool for KM (Knowledge management). We have spent an exorbitant amount of time and energy creating individual attention (one of the "Big Three" guiding resource strategies) by establishing the 9th grade team and the Study Skills class, but we have not thought about how to keep this knowledge moving forward to the school beyond the 9th grade team and the 9th grade year.
Our professional development may look like it is following the model of strategic schools but it is not happening in the context of of the specific curriculum and instructional materials the teachers are using. Instead we have instructional methods being taught separately from content or specific curriculum materials. By teaching it with the specific curriculum, you are saving teachers the time of applying what they have learned. Instead they are immediately applying and can then spend time reflecting on and revising for increased effectiveness.
