Doodle 4 Google!!!
What follows is the text of the email I just sent to all my AVID friends...
So I woke up for some odd reason in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep so I powered on my laptop and what did I find on my Google hompage? ... a scholarship opportunity with our name written all over it! It is called Doodle 4 Google and the theme this year is: "If I could do anything I would ..." which is right up our AVID Alley! This forwarded email is confirmation that I have already registered our school which is step #1. Step #2 is to choose 6 of our best entries and submit them by March 10th to have a chance at the Extra-Credit Technology Booster Award. If one of our students is chosen as a state finalist we could win 20 netbooks!!!
I plan to start this with my AVID 12 scholars on Friday. But I think we should open this up to all of our study skills students (fused with a unit on careers) and all of our AVID classes. I, of course, want to team up with our fabulous art department for advice and support as well as run a commercial on Titan TV. My teacher instinct that told me James would win is telling me this is OURS! The winning student’s school gets $25,000 for a new computer lab, and he or she will win a $15,000 college scholarship and the chance to have his or her design on the Google.com homepage for a day for millions of people to see. The semifinalists win a laptop and other great prizes!
Well I think that's all for now ... hope you are all deep in REM sleep ... glad I'm not!
